Italian-American composer, producer and clarinettist Giacomo Smith is known for his work as the founder of influential UK band Kansas Smitty's. His work honing Smitty's sound over across five acclaimed studio albums and a decades touring across the EU and US has led to production work for Jamie Cullum, rising star Jas Kayser and the debut album from actor Damian Lewis alongside performing regularly as a featured soloist with Gregory Porter the Southbank Sinfonia and other international orchestras. His writing, production and collaborations have garnered 10m + streams and counting. After getting undergrad at Boston and a Masters at McGill Giacomo left the states to set up in London. He frequently goes back home to perform, notably in 2019 at Wynton Marsalis' request to play with the Jazz At The Lincoln Center Orchestra. More recently in 2022 he has a concerto written for him by composer and conductor Guy Barker performed as part of the EFG Jazz Festival with the Southbank Sinfonia. His fascination with Django’s Reinhardt's unique swing style has led to appearances as a featured guest across Europe and in the U.S. and a growing following in France."Trav'lin Light" is a brand new project from Giacomo which sets out to explore the under travelled land of "folk-jazz", a term coined by one of his inspirations, clarinetist, Jimmy Giuffre. This concept was born on one of the hottest nights of the year in one of the hottest basements in London, Kansas Smitty’s, a venue founded and co-owned by Giacomo. It was one of the featured performances for one of their celebrated and award winning lockdown series KSTV and now it is brought to life in the flesh with Giacomo joined by Alex 'Honey' Boulton on guitar and Will Sach on bass.
