About us

Epsom & Ewell Borough Council has many areas of open space and recreation grounds available for hire.

Generally these hirers are charitable groups wishing to hold a summer fete or similar event, but sometimes they are commercial organisations wishing to hold large outdoor functions for the benefit of the general public.

Hook Road arena

Hook Road arena is situated in the northern half of the Borough, between Chessington Road and Hook Road, next to the old St Ebba's Hospital site. It is a very large open space, which can be hired to accommodate public events. Parts of the area are available for informal recreation at other times.

For organised events there are three gated entrances; one off Chessington Road and two off Hook Road. At other times the arena may also be accessed by numerous pedestrian gates from Hook Road, Chessington Road and Melton Fields.

Off street car parking is available when organised events are taking place. Cars should not be parked in adjoining roads.

The arena is used annually as the site for the firework display organised by the 7th Epsom (Methodist) scout group and other main events such as:

> Car boot sales

> Various circuses

> Thai festival

> Fun fairs

> Food festivals

> Open air cinema

> Corporate fun days

> Vintage car rallies

> And many more

Horton Country park

Horton Country Park local nature reserve covers 400 acres.  The site is divided into four distinct areas.  Around half of the Country Park is public open space designated as local nature reserve.  It is managed, where possible, to maintain and improve ecological diversity and maintain good public access.  The remaining area within the Country Park is divided between the Farm, Golf and Equestrian Centre.

  • Hobbledown Farm (formerly Horton Country Park Farm) is nearby and has all the common farmyard animals on show, a shop, cafe, and large adventure playground.  Before 1973 the land belonged to Long Grove Hospital and was known as Long Grove Farm. In those days the farm supplied the hospital with meat, milk, vegetables and therapeutic work for the patients. The farm can be contacted on 01372 743984

  • The golf centre is called 'Horton Park Golf Club' and offers an 18 hole course, driving range and restaurant.  Horton Park golf club can be contacted on 020 8393 8400

  • Equus Equestrian Centre offers livery, pony trekking and polo.  Equus can be contacted on 01372 743084.

Horton Country Park is also used for many community events. If you are interested in hiring parts or all of Horton Country Park get in touch with us on 01372 732000 on email us at contact us
