In 1935 Epsom and Ewell Borough Council purchased the Epsom Common and it remains in our ownership today. In the 1950s the Common was designated as a Site of Special Scientific interest (SSSI) and in 2001 was also designated a Local Nature Reserve. We manage Epsom Common to maintain and improve nature conservation whilst allowing public access.
