Empty homes

We have launched an initiative targeting the borough’s empty homes to bring them back into use.

We are currently investigating over 50 long term empty properties within the borough. The reasons for a property being empty are varied but empty property owners are missing out on the potential income generated through letting or selling their property.

Our initiative may be able to provide support with refurbishing, renovating, selling or letting an empty property. If you have an empty property in the borough, email EmptyHomes@epsom-ewell.gov.uk and we will see if we can help you. We can also help you if you would like to let your property.

Long term empty properties can have a detrimental effect on the community and on those living close by, with issues such as fly tipping, vandalism, vermin and break-ins. Within the borough there are currently over 50 families in temporary bed and breakfast accommodation and a further 2,350 people on the council’s housing needs register. There are also many other families who are looking for a property to rent or buy within the borough.

By bringing empty properties back into use, we can help reduce pressure on housing within the borough.

Empty Property Strategy

The council has adopted an empty homes strategy which provides more details about how the council will get empty properties back into use. You can read the strategy by clicking the link below.
