Each year the Council approves a budget that makes provision for the total estimated cost of providing its services. Our budget book contains details of the Council's spending plans for each financial year. This includes day-to-day running costs, a capital programme for expenditure on major schemes or works, and also maintenance of Council assets.
The net cost of the budgets is met by interest earned on balances, internal funding from reserves, government grants and council tax.
The level of council tax is determined by full Council in February each year.
We collect local tax within the Borough on behalf of Surrey County Council, and Surrey Police as well as our own council tax. Further information is in the Council Tax leaflet issued to all of the Borough's residents and businesses.
