What is the Community Recycling Centre and how do I find it?
The Civic Amenity Site is located in Blenheim Road, Epsom, KT19 9AP. It is commonly known as "The Tip" or "The Dump" and it incorporates the Community Recycling Centre. It is run by Surrey Waste Management Ltd, on behalf of Surrey County Council, and can be telephoned on 01372 728722.
There is no charge for recycling, household rubbish or small amounts of home improvement waste such as rubble. Trade waste and large quantities of home improvement waste (exceeding roughly 25kg), however, are accepted at a cost. Hazardous wastes such as asbestos, paints, gas bottles, batteries etc can be disposed of safely at this site (information about specific materials can be obtained if required from staff at Surrey Waste Management Ltd).
Please note: from Monday 5 October 2009, you may be asked to prove you are a Surrey resident before using your local Community Recycling Centre. Please remember to bring either a driver's licence, this year's council tax bill or a recent utility bill and have these to hand when you enter the site. If you would like to know more about this scheme, please contact Surrey County Council on 03456 009 009 or visit their website.
Recycling
Specialist recycling facilities can be found at this site, including materials too hazardous to be accepted at general recycling centres around the Borough. Learn more about what can be recycled at the Civic Amenity Site.
If you are travelling to the "Tip" to dispose of your waste, please take time to think about what could be recycled while you are there, rather than simply thrown away for landfill disposal.
