The Borough Council is provided annually (usually in November) with information showing the areas within Epsom & Ewell where the five telecommunications operators are likely to propose new equipment within the following year.

This information is made available in order that communities and elected Members can be involved in discussions with operators regarding the siting and design of equipment, prior to the formal submission of the proposals to the Council.

It should be noted that the maps indicate areas of search for new sites, and not specific locations, and thus the precise siting of equipment can be influenced at an early stage in the site identification process.

The Council has compiled this plan based upon the information supplied by the operators.  It shows the approximate 'areas of search' for the siting of new telecommunications equipment in the Borough and is colour coded to indicate which operators are looking in which areas.  The purpose of the plan is to improve the amount of coordinated and accessible information available on telecommunications to Borough residents.  The plan was prepared in November 2006 and was accurate at that time.  However, it is possible that changes will occur during the course of the year, for example due to changes in operator requirements.  The operators will be expected to consult fully on any proposals that arise, which are outside the identified 'areas of search' on the plan.
