As part of the Local Development Framework the Council is producing an Area Action Plan (AAP) for Epsom Town Centre. As the main town centre in the Borough, the Council recognises the importance of maintaining its vibrancy and viability, and is therefore committed to a positive and pro-active approach to the centre's development and change.
What is an Area Action Plan?
The Area Action Plan will be a long term strategy for the town centre and will provide a framework for future change up to 2026. It is a long term 'spatial' strategy which will help deliver not only the Council's objectives for the town centre, but also the Local Strategic Partnership and partner organisations goals and aspirations. It is therefore important that the document is developed in partnership with such organisations and with input from the local community. It will build on the vision for the town centre set out in the Core Strategy, developing objectives with a focus on delivery.
Consultation - Issues Paper
19 September to 7 November 2008
To mark the first stage of consultation, the Council produced an 'issues paper' which it invited comments on. This paper provided context and background to the Area Action Plan and sought views on the issues and challenges the town centre faces. Comments received in response to this consultation will be considered in the development of a set of 'options' for the future of the town centre, which will again be subject to consultation in early 2009.
