The Borough has 32 sites of High Archaeological Potential; one County site of Archaeological Importance and two Scheduled Ancient Monuments.  These sites are identified by the Borough and County Council’s museum staff. If a planning application is made in the vicinity of such a site, the Council expects an archaeological assessment and where appropriate, a field evaluation.  For more detailed information consult Policy BE17 in the adopted Local Plan.

For further information on local archaeology or history, contact Museum Curator at the Borough Council’s Museum at Bourne Hall, Spring Street, Ewell.  Tel: 020 8394 1734

Archaeological matters are dealt with at County level.  Further information is available on Surrey County Council's website.
