We advise on structural matters for the temporary stands and structures at Epsom Downs racecourse as well as being a member of the Advisory group for the issue of safety certificates for the permanent covered grandstands.
Structural details are submitted for the temporary stands and structures each year and inspections are carried out to ensure they are safely constructed and maintained during use. The permanent covered stands are regulated under the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987 which is concerned with the safeguarding of spectators and requires a safety certificate to be issued for a regulated stand.
The Advisory Group, recommended to be set up following the report on the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster, is made up of representatives from the Fire Service, Police, Ambulance Service and Local Building Authority.
