As part of the Council's commitment to give young people a voice, the Leisure Developments team organise a variety of events throughout the year that aim to give a focus to democracy.  The Focus on Democracy campaign provides young people with opportunities to talk to local Councillors, find out how politics affect their everyday life and how to get involved at a local level.

Two Political Speed Dating events are held over the year.  During these events, young people from across the Borough are able to talk directly to local Councillors about issues that are important to them.

The 'Focus on Democracy' van has toured local secondary schools, the North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).  The van has provided young people with the opportunity to talk to Local Councillors and Officers from Epsom & Ewell Borough Council and Surrey County Council, as well as take part in a 'ballot paper quiz'.
