Can you vote?

You can only vote at elections if you are on the Register of Electors.  The register (also known as the Electoral Roll or Register), is the list of everyone who is registered to vote and your name must be on the register to vote at elections.  You are not automatically registered, even if you pay Council Tax, and you must re-register each year.  This is an easy process as a form is delivered to every household in the Borough during the annual canvass which is held in the autumn each year. If you move home during the year you can re-register at your new property by contacting your local Council. You should do this even if you are moving within the Borough.

To check if your name is on the current register you can contact us at the Town Hall on Tel: 01372 732152 or you can inspect the register yourself at the Town Hall. There are restrictions on viewing the full register, for further information.

If you are not registered you will need to fill in an electoral registration form which is available from Electoral Services at the Town Hall.
