The purpose of the Equalities Forum is to establish a way for the Council to work with representatives from the nine equality areas (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex (gender) and sexual orientation) on equality issues in Epsom and Ewell.
The Forum represents people who share a protected characteristic under the law, as well as any relevant groups and people who are disadvantaged by their personal characteristics who require the Forum's support. This will help the Council understand the needs of its residents so it can make sure these are considered in the way it works and undertake activities to inform and educate the local community. The Equalities Forum will make sure that equalities' issues are on the agenda.
The Forum meets on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and December. Communication between meetings takes place by email and by telephone if needed.
