The Chief Executive has direct line management responsibility for the Directors, Policy & Partnership Division (including Scrutiny), Civic & Ceremonial and the Secretariat.  As Returning Officer, she also has responsibility for all electoral matters.

Policy & Partnerships Division

  • Responds to central government, regional and county initiatives
  • Carries out policy analysis and development
  • Acts as the focus for partnership working and community and sports development.
Leisure Developments
  • Identifies key leisure sites for future development
  • Develops sporting activities for all ages and with specific focus on increasing physical activity levels across the Borough.  This includes sport as well as informal recreation such as gardening, walking and cycling.
Community Development
  • Responsible for community-based work targeted at certain areas (eg Hospital Cluster) and with specific groups (eg ethnic minorities)
  • Engaging with communities and their representatives and initiating projects and actions to meet their needs.
Community Safety
  • Improve community safety in accordance with the Borough's Community Safety Strategy.  Key Responsibilities include: 
    • Raising awareness about community safety
    • Producing the Crime Audit every three years in accordance with the Crime & Disorder Act 1998
    • Using Crime and Disorder data to give advice on the development and implementation of the Community Safety Strategy (Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership) and Action Plan (Epsom & Ewell Borough Council)
    • Identify gaps in service provision and recommending and initiating action to address community safety issues
    • Supports partnership work with statutory and voluntary groups within the Borough via forums such as Domestic Violence and Substance Misuse
    • Promote and coordinate Community Safety Grants on behalf of the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.
Scrutiny
  • Supports the Scrutiny Committee both in preparing and coordinating the committee agendas and associated works
  • Support any scrutiny/review that the Committee undertakes.  If any member, officer or member of the public is aware of a service or performance issue that they would like to be investigated it can be referred to this committee.
