Objectives
The objectives of the Consultation Strategy (November 2005) include:
- Further promoting the consultation system and delivering continuous improvement in efficient coordination, management and evaluation of consultation.
- Ensuring that the statutory obligations placed on the Council regarding consultation and research are fulfilled.
- Ensuring that the results of all consultation and research are effectively used to inform the decision-making process.
- Ensuring that lessons learned from each consultation are recorded centrally.
- Examining future improvements that the Council can deliver to improve its consultation process.
The Consultation Strategy
The Consultation Strategy incorporates a list of consultation activity undertaken by the Council in 2005; a risk assessment (which identifies potential issues with consultation and how these will be overcome; a sample copy of the Consultation Planning (CD1) form that all service managers must complete prior to any consultation commencing; a sample copy of the Post Consultation (CD2) form that all service managers must complete after the consultation has taken place; a provisional consultation schedule from November 2005 through to April 2007; and a consultation action plan through to April 2007, which enables the Council to further develop its consultation activity.
