The Wells - It's all happening...

The Wells Centre is a vibrant multi-purpose community venue serving the south of the Borough. The centre exists to improve the quality of life for local people by offering a range of educational, recreational, cultural and social opportunities. It is a place where people from a wide range of background come to socialise, learn and enjoy..

The Wells for the over 55's

If you would like to make new friends, or spend time with old friends, this is the place for you. You will be warmly welcomed by the members and our friendly staff; you can choose from a wide range of activities and classes to suit your needs.

Staff are on site during part of the day plus volunteers, allowing the Wells to be used by residents, others other than hirers to drop in for tea or coffee, make use of IT facilities and access informational courses  We are open Monday to Friday, 9am till 4pm for the over 55's.

We are sorry that we are unable to offer any care services to support individual needs.

Coffee Shop Lounge and Bar

The centre has a relaxing lounge with a coffee shop and licensed bar for members. This is the focal point of the centre where members can relax and catch up with each other and find out about the latest news, forthcoming events and the centres' many activities and classes.

The lounge has two public access computers for members to use the internet. We have a large screen television to keep up to date with events and sporting activities.

The Centre has an attractive restaurant-style dining room where you can enjoy a wide range of freshly prepared meals.

Our own cooks prepare a choice of hot and cold dishes available at affordable prices. Lunches are available daily, Monday to Friday, at 12.30pm where you will be served by our friendly staff and volunteers.

Lunches need to be ordered by 11.30am either in person or by telephone. In addition, we offer occasional themed days and parties with live entertainment after lunch.

Over 55's activities

The club’s weekly activities include Tai Chi, Short Mat Bowling, Beginners Bridge, Social Art Group, Line Dancing, Yoga, Keep Fit to Music and Card Making and Craft. Some classes are free, and some incur a small charge.

Picture of Wells Centre Art GroupAs well as our classes and groups, we offer a varied entertainment programme with many different artists visiting the centre throughout the year.

Prospective members are always welcome to come and join us for a couple of days before deciding to join.

Computing for Senior's

Picture of a computer lessonThe Wells Centre provides access to the internet with computers to support educational, recreational and cultural needs. We arrange free computer classes for our members in association with a number of charities.

These popular tutor led courses run for five or ten weeks depending on your own level of experience (ie, beginner or intermediate). Each session is a two hour session, once a week, with a maximum of 12 people.

Please contact the centre to enquire or to book a session.

The computer classes support advances in technology, the changing needs of the local community, as well as supporting our local community.

The Wells Hairdresser

The Wells Centre provides a hairdressing service for men and women. This is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, 9am to 12.30pm. Please phone the centre to book an appointment, although advance booking is not always necessary.

Many well known groups and organisations regularly use the Centre and offer a wide range of exciting opportunities for all ages.

The Wells Centre is home to the Wells Pre-school, a Unisex Hairdresser, Friends of the Wells community group, Alzheimer’s Singing for the Brain, Guides, JAM Academy of Performing Arts (Adult and Junior), Ashtead Ballet School, U3A Sociology, NHS Retirement Club, Zumba dance classes, Wine Tasting, Meditation classes, adult and child Martial Arts (Choi Kwang Do) and our local church called Christ Church on the Wells.

The Wells consists of a main hall (which can be divided into two) a smaller hall, meeting room and a lounge - all of which can be hired. The aim is to provide facilities and equipment top open up new educational and recreational opportunities for  community groups and individuals who wish to use the Wells.

Further Information

The Wells Centre is located at the heart of the Wells Community, surrounded by Epsom Common and just a few minutes' walk from the famous Epsom Well, home of the original Epsom Salts.
