Epsom Cemetery

Ashley Road
Epsom
Surrey
KT18 5BP

The Cemetery is open to the public every day of the year from 9:00 am on weekdays, weekends and public holidays.  The cemetery gates are generally closed at dusk, however the gates are always closed at 7:00 pm.  Please refer to the notice boards at the cemetery for the current closing times.

Please note: at weekends and public holidays access may be limited to the main entrances in Ashley Road and Downs Road.  On Derby day the gates will remain locked all day.
The site is monitored by closed circuit television for your added peace of mind and security.  We advise all visitors to the site to lock any valuables in the boot of their cars.

Types of Plot

There are three types of burial plot:

Traditional

(Front Row and Ordinary)

Will accommodate up to four interments.  Front row graves are situated next to a roadway.  Spaces are wider in order to accommodate a casket or the building of a brick lined grave.  Selection of a particular location is permissible, subject to availability and approval.  Ordinary traditional spaces are still available although their numbers are now limited and it is, regretfully, not possible to select a particular site.

Lawn In the Lawn Section the graves are turfed over following the first interment and therefore planting out of these spaces is not allowed and memorials can only be placed on the concrete bearer at the head of the grave.  As with traditional spaces, the graves can accommodate up to four interments but regretfully it is not possible to select a particular site.
The Garden of Remembrance for cremated remains. Situated at the northern end of the Cemetery opposite the Commonwealth War Graves, this site is available for the interment of cremated remains only.  Each plot within the Garden of Remembrance can be used for up to four
interments and a memorial may be placed on the space, subject to regulations.  Unfortunately, planting of these spaces is not allowed and it is  not possible to select a particular location within the Garden.

The cemetery is able to arrange Rights of Interment for future use in all classes of grave spaces in order that members of the family may be buried in adjoining graves if desired.

Searching for friends or relatives

We are happy to assist people in tracing friends or relatives who they believe to be buried at the cemetery.

If this involves only one or two persons, there is no charge for the service.  However, more than this and a charge has to be made.  In order to carry out a search, the correct spelling of the surname and forenames are vital.  We will also need to know the year of death and any other additional information that you are able to provide to help us to accurately identify the person that you wish to trace.

Exhumation

Exhumation of a body at Epsom Cemetery is arranged through the Cemetery Superintendent.  All fees and charges relating to exhumation are on a quotation basis only.
